What goes into the AI?
Must the data stay in Singapore?

Set up by a developer

These are not apps you sign up for. A developer or a partner like us sets them up, and your team then uses them in your company chat. They are the only routes where the AI runs in Singapore and a contract covers your data.

In plain words

Is ChatGPT safe for company data?

It depends on the plan, not the app. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Copilot each have personal plans and work plans. The two look the same on screen, but they treat your data differently.

A personal plan can learn from your chats unless each person turns training off. No contract limits what the provider does with your data. This is true even on a paid plan such as ChatGPT Plus or Claude Max.

A work plan does not learn from your chats, and a contract comes with the plan. Examples are ChatGPT Business, Claude Team, Gemini in Google Workspace and Copilot Chat on a work account. To tell which plan your staff use, ask who pays. If the company pays one bill and an admin adds people, it is a work plan.

None of the work plans in these apps lets you choose Singapore as the place the AI runs. If your data must stay in Singapore, a developer sets up the AI in your own cloud account, in the Singapore region.

Questions owners ask

Common questions about AI and company data

Is ChatGPT safe for company data?

It depends on the plan. ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro are personal plans. They learn from your chats unless each person turns training off, and no contract covers your data.

ChatGPT Business and ChatGPT Enterprise do not learn from your chats, and a contract is part of OpenAI's terms. Keep personal plans to public information, with training turned off.

Does ChatGPT train on what my staff type?

On a personal plan, yes, unless each person turns it off in Settings, Data controls. Pressing thumbs up or down sends the whole chat to OpenAI for training, even with training turned off.

On ChatGPT Business and ChatGPT Enterprise, OpenAI does not learn from your chats.

What is the difference between ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Business?

ChatGPT Plus is a personal plan at US$20 a month. It learns from your chats unless each person turns training off, and there is no contract covering your data.

ChatGPT Business costs US$20 a person a month on a yearly plan, or US$25 monthly, for at least 2 people. It does not learn from your chats, and the contract is part of OpenAI's terms, so there is nothing to sign. Your admin can read and export staff chats, so tell staff this.

Is DeepSeek safe for company data?

Only for public information. The DeepSeek app stores chats in China, under Chinese law. It learns from your chats, and to stop it you have to email DeepSeek. There is no contract covering your data.

We already pay for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Do we need anything else?

You may already pay for a safe plan. Copilot Chat is free with Microsoft 365, and Microsoft's agreement covers it. Gemini is in every Google Workspace Business plan, and Google's agreement covers it.

Make sure everyone signs in with their work account. On Copilot, the work version shows a green shield next to New Chat.

Can we keep our data in Singapore?

Not fully on the ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot work plans. None of them lets you choose Singapore as the place the AI runs. ChatGPT Enterprise can keep chats in Singapore, but the AI itself runs in the US, EU or UAE.

For data that must stay in Singapore, a developer sets up Gemini on Google Cloud or Claude Sonnet 5 on Amazon Bedrock, in the Singapore region. Singapore's data protection law (PDPA) does not require this. It allows data to leave Singapore when a contract protects it.

Not sure what fits your company?

We set up AI for Singapore companies and run it on Glints' own team. Talk it through with us in 20 minutes.
